California Transparency in Supply Chains Act

The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act requires covered manufacturers and retailers operating in California to post disclosures about their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their supply chains.

Nova Bus (US) Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Nova Bus”)  is committed to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking are not present in our supply chain or in any part of our business. Nova Bus engages in the verification of product supply chains to evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery. Verification is not currently conducted by a third party.   Audits are conducted of suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with the Volvo Group’s Supply Partner Code of Conduct for trafficking and slavery in supply chains. Nova Bus requires direct suppliers to certify that materials incorporated into the product comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they are doing business. Nova Bus maintains internal accountability standards and procedures for employees or contractors failing to meet company standards regarding slavery and trafficking. Nova Bus provides yearly mandatory training related to the Volvo Group Code of Conduct to all company employees and management. As part of its full commitment to respecting internationally recognized human rights, Nova Bus does not tolerate any forms of modern slavery, including forced, bonded or compulsory labour and child labour. This has been an essential part of the Volvo Group Code of Conduct since 2003. Practices that constitute forced labour, including debt bondage, human trafficking, and other forms of modern slavery, are not accepted in any part of the Volvo Group. The Code of Conduct includes examples of modern slavery-related practices such as confiscation of identity papers or passports, withholding of wages, not conferring an official employment status, subjecting someone to physical and sexual violence, debt bandage, imposing excessive recruitment fees, and restricting people’s freedom of movement.
